The role

Kamloops Airport has openings for the position Supervisor, Airport Safety and Facilities. Reporting to the Manager of Facilities and Emergency Response, the successful candidates will be responsible for coordination of staff and resources to ensure efficient and excellent delivery of the airfield and airport facility preventative maintenance program for all surfaces, buildings, electrical and mechanical equipment. This is a working position and the Supervisor participates in all Airport Technician 2 duties as required. This role is a regular, full-time union position covered by a Collective Agreement. The hourly rate is $45.73.

Key responsibilities

  • Coordinating and conducting training of staff to take on the role of Airport Technicians (APT).
  • Scheduling resources to ensure the availability of airport services and facilities.
  • Coordinating and prioritizing APT activities.
  • Providing quality assurance and audit of maintenance activities to ensure due diligence.
  • Assisting the Manager, Facilities and Emergency Response plan for future maintenance activities.
  • Ensuring workplace health and safety practices and records are maintained.
  • Ensuring the APT group effectively delivers an airport emergency response program.
  • As required, fulfills the role of APT2 and participates fully in the emergency response and maintenance programs for Kamloops Airport.
  • Other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the position may be assigned.

About you

  • At least 5 years of supervisory experience in airport emergency response and maintenance functions preferred.
  • Trained and qualified to meet current CARS303 and 323 criteria.
  • Valid Class 3 driver’s permit with airbrake endorsement.
  • Thorough knowledge of Kamloops Airport Emergency Response Procedures.
  • Knowledge of summer/winter pavement and turf maintenance practices.
  • Knowledge and experience with facilities and equipment, preventative maintenance practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of facilities budgeting and material procurement principles.
  • Fulfillment of all medical, physical ability, cognitive skill and other requirements of the APT2 position.
  • Ability to obtain a restricted radio operator’s license and airside vehicle operator’s permit.
  • Secondary school certificate or equivalent.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
