The Role

The Manager, Project Investments supports Vantage’s project development and investment strategy by managing critical commercial and financial components of the project development process and associated investments in airport projects and other transportation hubs globally, with particular focus on the U.S. This role will become a critical member of the Acquisitions team in assessing new project development and investment opportunities and participating in all aspects of the development and investment process. This involves supporting origination, leading due diligence processes, managing financial models, managing debt financing processes, and supporting the investment decision-making process. This role offers the successful candidate exposure to private/P3, buy-side, infrastructure transactions for some of the largest projects of this type in North America and other jurisdictions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Business Development Support

  • Support Vantage’s business development efforts by developing impactful commercial and financial proposals that underpin Vantage’s participation with prospective clients/partners on development opportunities
  • Develop initial financial analysis to evaluate at a high-level indicative project viability, end-user affordability and expected risk-return outcome
  • Relying on Vantage and industry-wide precedent projects, assist in identifying drivers through which targeted value-creation on business development opportunities can be achieved for Vantage
  • Develop and circulate periodic financing and investment market updates to the Vantage executive team.

 

Project Pursuits

  • Assist the Vantage executive team in screening new project development and investment opportunities vis-à-vis Vantage’s strategic plan and in presenting information in support of ‘go / no-go’ decisions
  • Lead the development of financing and investment-related responses to RFIs, RFQs and RFPs
  • Coordinate development of presentations to the Vantage executive team, Board of Directors and Shareholder in support of new pursuits, followed by periodic updates.

 

Consortium coordination

  • In the course of project pursuits / transaction execution, lead discussions, messaging and consensus building around the financial model and investment case inputs with counterparts at the consortium partners
  • Coordinate regular internal an consortium coordination discussions, including creating agendas and following-up on action items with relevant parties.

 

Business and investment case assessment

  • Ensure that the financial model used in analyzing the investment case for a pursuit accurately reflects the underlying deal structure, incorporates consistent business plan assumptions; and is consistent with the obligations assumed under the project agreements
  • Analyze the underlying investment case to identify and assess impacts of key investment value drivers / risk factors and present findings to the leadership team
  • Identify and obtain accurate financial analyses relevant to the investment decision making process and present findings to the leadership team
  • Lead development of information materials to articulate the underlying investment case (e.g. information memorandum) and present financial analyses in support of the recommended investment decision to the Vantage executive team.

 

Due diligence

  • Develop and secure support (internally and with consortium partners) for an investment due diligence plan
  • Ensure due diligence advisor scopes incorporate required areas of focus from an investment perspective, review and comment on draft reports, analyze risk commentary and present relevant findings to the Vantage executive team.

 

Reporting

  • Coordinate development of presentations providing periodic updates to the Executive Team, Board of Directors and Shareholders
  • Develop and maintain pursuit budgets in collaboration with the Vantage finance team

Other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the position may be assigned.

Primary Qualifications:

With at least 10 years of directly relevant experience in infrastructure advisory, infrastructure PE investment, consulting, aviation (including US airport financings), transportation or a related industry, the ideal candidate will be an independent worker, detail-oriented, with strong communication skills, and able to work to tight deadlines in addition to demonstrating sound business judgment, a high degree of integrity and objectivity and innovation in approaching project challenges. A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Economics or other related field is required as is leadership experience.

Primary Work Location: Remote / Hybrid
