The Role:

 

 

The Payroll Coordinator will report to the Manager of Payroll and work closely with Vantage Group’s Total Rewards team. This role is responsible for planning and implementing strategies to increase payroll efficiencies, payroll reconciliation, creating custom reports, assisting as a backup resource for payroll processing and overall improving internal processes by assisting in several ongoing internal projects. The position requires collaboration with all stakeholders as well as contributing to and executing comprehensive payroll strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Support the payroll team with administrative and operations tasks across the normal payroll cycle, including data audits, reconciliations and reporting.
  • Prepare custom and recurring reports and dashboards.
  • Assist with completing year-end payroll activities in compliance with local requirements.
  • Create process and consistency with maintaining accurate payroll, financial and other benefit related records.
  • Participate in continuous process improvement projects aimed at increasing the efficiency, accuracy and compliance of ongoing payroll operations.
  • Act as an alternative team resource to prepare and process bi-weekly payrolls for the Corporate Office, US and Canadian subsidiaries under the supervision of the Manager, Payroll.
  • Partner with HRIS and Total Rewards team to support payroll-related system implementation and upgrades.
  • Occasional interaction with compliance related payroll activities: working through Canadian & US tax regulations, employment laws, payroll compliance, pension contributions and benefit deductions.  
  • Other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the position may be assigned.

Primary Qualifications:

 

  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, HR or another related field from an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • At least 5+ years’ experience in payroll, HR operations, HR administration or professionally related field.
  • Current, or very recent, hands-on experience with ADP-Workforce Now (WFN) is a core requirement to be successful in this position.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience in Microsoft Excel. Comfortable performing analysis within the platform and experienced with VLOOKUP, creating pivot tables, macros, data manipulation, etc.
  • Experience troubleshooting within ADP, managing data integrations, and ensuring seamless payroll processes.
  • Understanding of ADP’s reporting functions, ability to extract key insights, and provide payroll analytics as requested.
  • High attention to details, a focused and systematic approach to daily work and commitment to data integrity. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration and development of professional relationships with internal stakeholders.

Primary Work Location: Remote, Canada

 

This is currently a 6-month term position.
